Wood Baby Spoons


Wood Baby Spoon
Natural wooden baby spoons (baby size 5" long, or mini-spoon 4" long).   Enjoy these handcrafted wooden spoons with unique decorative carvings  and flame-blackened edges.  The baby spoons are available in various designs (moon, star, heart).  Made here in the USA with Pennsylvania cherry wood.  We special-ordered these baby spoons unfinished (normally they are finished w/ mineral oil which we don't like to use for babies), so this way you can decide if you would like a finish applied or not.   Some people like to use olive oil or coconut oil, or we have an all-natural beeswax polish available at the bottom of the page (or we can apply the beeswax to your spoon at no extra cost).  For care of wood spoons, avoid prolonged periods of moisture (wash briefly without soaking, and dry w/ towel after use).   We ship the spoons in a padded recycled-paper jewelry box for extra protection (the box also looks nice when the spoon is for a baby gift).

You care for your spoon by wiping with a cloth, not allowing to hang out in water, and the occasional beeswax massage if it feels dried out."
The Story of Kett Made (by Colleen):
Aways back, our Baby reacted to using metal spoons. Not feeling comfy with the idea of feeding him with plastic, my husband trucked up to his shop, where he works as a Luthier (guitar maker) and fashioned Baby a spoon to eat with that day.  I was astounded at the fluidity and beauty of something as simple as a spoon, that he handed me. 
Ever the woodworking engineer, he had thought of every detail. A curve for the natural shape to scoop to Babys mouth. 2 ends, one for little mouths and thin cravices and a larger end for a hungry Baby (and a hungry Mumma sharing in the applesauce ) It was the most simple yet glorious thing he had ever made me. 
This bloomed our idea to share our spoons with others. Not in a large production way, but created each one by my DH, a special wee bit. A piece of ourselves, as we work together in design and mind, launching this wee project together in Unity.

Bambu (2 Spoons and 2 Forks Set - organic bamboo)
Our kids (ages 3 and 5) love these and we have been washing them in the dishwasher for over a month with no problems.  The bambu Natural Utensils are made in China using a manufacturing group organized as a Cooperative.

The food safe oil we use in the finishing is made from naturally produced vegetable oils and waxes (ingredients: sunflower oil, soybean oil, thistle oil, carnauba wax, candelilla wax). No animal products are used as ingredients or in the production process.  Dishwasher safe, but recommend occasionally refinishing with "Bamboo Goo" (sold separately at the bottom of this page).

Wood Children's Chopsticks

All-Natural Beeswax Polish
We have taken special care in creating this formula that blends the protection of beeswax with the “feeding” properties of certified JoJoba oil. We use the highest-grade beeswax that comes to us directly from local Michigan apiaries in an unrefined state. After we clean out the impurities, we heat-blend the beeswax with food-grade oils to suspend the ingredients so that separation is minimal and thus prevents any wax build-up. Its consistency is unique; we describe it as a solid polish in a liquid state of being.
By using certified organic JoJoba Oil only adds to the perfection of this magical elixir. It is strong enough to seal concrete, yet it is gentle enough to use on a baby’s bottom.
