Ergo Baby Carrier
We love Ergo Baby Carriers so much that I give my personal guarantee that you'll love them too.  The most common thing I hear from other moms that have them is "finally I feel free".  I tried so many carriers for the back-carry position, and this is the only one I can easily do by myself (without needing a 2nd person to help) and not worry about the baby falling out.  Especially now as a mom of two (and work at home mom), I feel so much freedom because of this wonderful carrier.  I can easily go out to the post office or wherever I need to go, because I can put Julie in the carrier on my back after getting her out of the car seat, and then I go around and get Becky out and carry her with one arm in front (with a big bag of packages in my other arm) while crossing the busy street.  These are wonderful for cooking too!  With a front-carry sling (of course this one can be used front-carry and side-carry too!), I always worried about having the baby grab toward the knife or the stove, but from the back she can just peek around my shoulder and watch everything going on without twisting her body around to see things.  Another thing the carriers are great for is hiking!  We tried the other types of fancy hiking carriers, but they seemed to put the baby's weight too high above the body and it felt unstable.
Nursing Momergo baby carrierergo baby carrier
The ERGO Baby Carrier's ergonomic design supports a correct sitting position for the baby's hip, pelvis and spine growth. It disperses most of the baby's weight between the hips and thighs, which helps to eliminate compression of the spine when hanging by the crotch which most other designs require. You can even nurse the baby while they are in the sling (photo above).  My husband prefers not to mess with wrapping fabric-type slings, so we were very excited to discover this sling and he loves it too!  With the snuggly carrier he used before, our baby's crotch would always be very red and sore looking due to the pressure most carriers put on those senstive areas.  The ERGO baby carrier also balances the baby's weight to parents' hips and shoulders, and alleviates physical stress for the parent.

Instructions for the back-carry with older baby (hopefully video coming soon):
Once you learn how to do it easily (took a few times to get my technique just right), it is literally 3 seconds to get them up and then down again.  Basically you leave the carrier on your waist (hanging down in the back - I often leave it that way all day even when not in use), and then pick up the baby and put him on your hip (for the example let's say it's your left hip).  So then you would put his right arm underneath your arm so his arm is around your back.  Then bend over a little and rotate him up on your back, grabbing hold of his right leg with your right hand to help pull him around.  Gravity will hold him on your back, and your left arm/hand will also be around his back to hold him there even if squirmy).  Then take your right hand and reach down to grab the shoulder strap and pull it over your shoulder.  Then pull up the left shoulder, making sure the fabric is coming up over his back to support him.  Then just strap the buckle in front.  Sounds like a long process but is super super fast if seen in person.  People are in shock to watch how fast it is.
My sister also uses it to carry her baby on her hip or front, but we use it for hiking too and use the back-carry most often.  Without it I would definitely not be able to have my job from home.  Another thing my sister likes to point out is that some people do best with the waist-part fastened around the hip bones (low down like I do it), but she found that hurt her back for some reason (everyone is shaped different) so she wears it up higher around her waist (she is long waisted so possibly that gets the baby up higher with her center of gravity).  So if you find any back pain at all, try some adjustments to the height of the waist portion.  That is where most of the weight should be carried, relieving any pressure on the shoulders.

Ergo Baby Carrier Waist Extension
The Waist Extension fits into either side of the buckle on the carrier and enlarges the waist circumference by 8", and extending The ERGO Baby Carrier's waist circumference from 45" to 54".  We have found though that in most cases people don't need the extension (my husband wears size 42-44 waist pants and doesn't need it).  If you end up needing it of course you can always order it separately, still with free shipping.

Ergo Baby Carrier testimonials:
"I just wanted to send a little note of thanks for creating such a wonderful baby carrier. I was wondering how to continue with my attachment style of parenting now that my baby slings do not work as well. I tried other backpack carriers and they were uncomfortable. My thirteen month old absolutely loves this carrier. He just hangs out and takes everything in while staying close to mommy. Your carrier now makes shopping and cooking dinner a breeze (two times when he seems to feel a need for extra security). Thanks and I would recommend this for everyone!" - Deborah (and Dillon) Media, PA

"This is too long overdue. I absolutely LOVE The ERGO! I have tried so many carriers and The ERGO works the best for long periods of carrying a 10kg kid. I got The ERGO in Feb and have been using it every time I leave the house with my 15 month old son. As I'm a single mum, I don't often have help when we go out, so taking a stroller is a real pain taking the bus, etc. What really sold it for me though was when I had a friend from Belgium visiting us and we toured Singapore with baby on my back for a whole week! Some days, baby would spend a whole six hours on my back - happily! And at the end of the day, my shoulders hardly ached! Amazing." -Fraemone Wee, Singapore

"Your baby carrier is SO much better than the Baby Bjorn I have been lugging my baby around in. My baby is almost 18 pounds at 6 months and wants to be carried all the time. The Baby Bjorn was killing my back because all of her weight hung on my shoulders. I have a Kelty backpack also and have used that on some short hikes. Not only was it heavy but my baby didn't like it. Iordered the Ergo carrier which arrived yesterday and I carried her around on my hip, which was comfortable and she was happy. Today my husband helped me put her on my back and we took her for a 45 minute hike. She absolutely loved it! She never fussed once (which is amazing in itself). Even more amazing was that I barely felt her on my back and I wasn't sore afterward. My baby and my back thank you!!!" - Sunni and Maya in Missoula, Montana

"The Ergo is my absolute favorite baby carrier. I have tried probably 50 different baby carriers (literally) trying to find something that works through my 7 children, and finally I stumbled across yours. I feel baby wearing is very important, but because most other carriers caused intense neck and shoulder pain, I was never able to do it. I'm not exaggerating when I say that your carrier FINALLY made that dream a reality. THANK YOU! MY baby and I both love it."

"I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for a wonderful carrier! We have a 8 week old baby girl named Mazie and so far we have been putting her in the carrier once a day to get use to it. It is easy to put on and the infant insert is so helpful! Thanks Again!"

After many years of studying many cultures and how they incorporate baby wearing, William and Martha Sears' conclusion says it all. "Doesn't every parent in every culture have these two simple desires: to make life easier for themselves and to make life better for their baby? Baby wearing does both." The ERGO Baby Carrier baby backpacks are just the tool to make this possible.
