An organic baby mattress with organic cotton canvas fabric outer and organic wool batting. Interspring Organic Mattress is 6" thick and fits standard-size cribs (most cribs are the same size, so there is usually no need to worry that the mattress won't fit your crib). The organic mattress is free of chemical fumes because wool is a natural flame retardant so no chemicals are required to be able to meet flame retardant requirements. Passes all safety regulations and CPSC guidelines. The organic crib mattress is firm and safe for newborns. $25 additional shipping due to size/weight (ships from the Ecobaby Organics, to continental U.S. addresses only). Organic Merino Wool Crib Mattress Pad
Animal-lovers alternative to lambskin. Super-thick and super-soft, this mattress pad is sold elsewhere for $145 retail, but we have a limited fabric supply offered at the pricing shown, in order to make more room at our house for other products (even a half-roll of fabric is about 3 feet in diamater!). The mattress pad is simply a cut piece of fabric 28" x 52" (shown as changing pad in the photo, but we can cut it to almost any size you might need, up to 32" wide by 52" long for the sale $89.95 price shown). Simply put a fitted sheet on top of the mattress pad. I was curious how this feels to sleep on, so I put a scrap piece of fabric under my own sheet, and now I finally understand all the wonderful benefits of the snuddly warmth wool provides babies for soothing sleep. I also put a scrap piece on the couch for myself to sit on (so warm and soothing that I can't stand to sit on the regular couch by itself any more - wow I'm becoming spoiled!) and of course my pets love it too. The organic merino wool pile fabric (w/ organic cotton backing) is made in the U.S.A.roughly 1-1.5" thick, completely chemical-free, untreated, certified organic. This is a great alternative to lamb skins, and oh so soft (you won't want to take your hands off it). This beautiful thick fabric is not machine washable (spot clean gently only by hand, avoiding rubbing motion which mats down the fibers). If you prefer something machine-washable, Snuggle Wool makes a similar mattress pad. We actually used to sell that brand but then decided the super-wash treatment made the wool feel to much like a synthetic, since super-wash coats the wool w/ a microscopic layer of nylon, and the backing of the fabric is polyester instead of a natural fiber.
