Organic Baby Toys, Rattles, and Teethers
I wish some of these wonderful organic baby toys had been available
when my girls were little. Even though they are expensive compared
to mass-produced baby toys, I think it's so important to minimize chemical
exposure for babies and young children. Especially in the first year,
babies are putting everything in their mouths, and the baby can absorb
large amounts of toxic chemicals. Some of the chemicals haven't been
around long enough for us to even know what the long term consequences
might be, so if you are as concerned as I am, I would recommend buying
plastic-free toys that are as natural and paint/dye-free as possible for
your new baby.

Natural Wood Rattle Teething Toy
These baby-safe rattles have been made in the USA by
a small family business in Oregon for over twenty years. The sound
of these rattles is simply irresistible for babies (and adults too!)
Some young babies who crawl around at our store grab one out of the basket
near the floor. Then the baby doesn't want to let the rattle go,
so the parent ends up buying one. These unique rattles are handmade
from remnant woods of Oregon. No living trees are ever cut. They are filled
with copper & zinc bbs, hand-sanded and finished with Clapham's all-natural
bees wax. Hand-made in the U.S.A. Colors vary based on the type of
wood used (light, medium, dark color). We'll choose a type of wood
for you if that's okay. We have maple and cherry wood in stock currently

Natural Wood Rattle Baby Toy
The rattle is sculpted in response to nature and organic
forms that blend harmoniously with a soothing sound. The experience of
the rattle is primarily tactile. The moving bead and organic textures encourage
the development of senses. Each rattle has a specific shape which is found
within the piece of wood. As Michelangelo was quoted to say, “the shape
is in the marble, I only remove what doesn’t belong.” The rattle
is crafted from cherry with a contrasting birch dowel. After the rattles
are sanded baby smooth, beeswax is hand applied bringing out the uniqueness
of the grain.

Note: If you have a dog at home, you might prefer using Sophie while

Rubber Ducky Bath Toy

This is a natural rubber bath toy made in Spain (almost all "rubber"
ducky toys are made of plastic these days, but this old-fashioned toy is
really made of rubber!) Bathtime just isn't complete without this

with a handle! Made of solid cherry wood in Arkansas. We special
ordered these "unfinished" because they normally come with mineral oil,
which we don't feel is safe for babies to chew on. Unfinished wood
is safe for chewing (all-natural), but if you prefer to add a finish, we
can add a light-finish using all-natural beeswax polish. Made in

Wood Baby Spoon
Natural wooden baby spoons (baby size 5" long, or mini-spoon
4" long). Enjoy these handcrafted wooden spoons with unique
decorative carvings and flame-blackened edges. The baby spoons
are available in various designs (moon, star, heart). Made here in
the USA with Pennsylvania cherry wood. We special-ordered these baby
spoons unfinished (normally they are finished w/ mineral oil which we don't
like to use for babies), so this way you can decide if you would like a
finish applied or not. Some people like to use olive oil or
coconut oil, or we have an all-natural beeswax polish available at the
bottom of the page (or we can apply the beeswax to your spoon at no extra
cost). For care of wood spoons, avoid prolonged periods of moisture
(wash briefly without soaking, and dry w/ towel after use).
